The 15-year-old who police say beat and then held her brother in scalding water is being charged as an adult, according to Channel 2 Action News.

The teen sister, who has not yet been named, allegedly struck her 4-year-old brother multiple times with a leather belt, then held him in a tub of hot water as punishment, Clayton County police said.

And though their aunt, Aleisha Harris, knew the boy was injured, she chose not to get medical help for him until about 24 hours later, which Clayton County police said Wednesday contributed to Jamal Dunlap’s death Friday.

The teen sister and Harris were in jail Thursday facing murder and first-degree child cruelty charges.
