A University of West Georgia student was killed and another woman was hurt in a car wreck Monday morning, officials said.

Angel Thompson, 18, of Jonesboro, lost control of her car after hydroplaning on Ga. 166 in Carroll County about 8:30 a.m., Georgia State Patrol officials said.

Thompson crossed the double yellow lines and was struck by a Honda Accord driven by 21-year-old Tiffany Humphrey of Villa Rica.

Humphrey was rushed to WellStar Douglas Hospital. Her condition was not immediately available.

Thompson, a 2016 graduate of the Martha Ellen Stilwell School of the Arts, was a freshman at UWG majoring in chemistry, a university official said.

The fatal crash comes one week after six teenagers were killed in two car accidents.
