For the first time since 2009, Georgians looking for a deal can save a few bucks by not paying some sales taxes.

The back-to-school tax holiday returns today, and goes through midnight Saturday. Shoppers seeking everything from a new keyboard to a pair of cleats will be able to save on taxes, whether they buy in stores or online.

Included in the tax holiday are clothes and shoes that cost $100 per item or less — everything from diapers and receiving blankets to football pads and roller skates. Shirts, pants, undergarments and lingerie that cost less than $100 apiece will be tax-free.

School supplies — including children's books — that are less than $20 an item will not be taxed. And computers and related electronics will be tax-free, as long as the total purchase is less than $1,000.

But even those items can be taxed if they are purchased at an amusement park, a hotel or a restaurant. Other taxable items include accessories like watches and umbrellas, digital cameras and televisions, and items for resale.
