Tampa man arrested in Atlanta airport on child porn charges
A Tampa man, wanted on 305 counts of child pornography, was arrested by U.S. Marshals as he stepped from a plane at Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport on Sunday.
Richard Dill, 57, was arriving in Atlanta from Dubai when officials arrested him. He had been working as a government contractor in Iraq as Hillsborough County Sheriff’s officials were searching for him.
Investigators with the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office in Tampa had been looking for Dill since late April.
On April 21, they issued an arrest warrant for 305 counts of possession of child pornography and a bond of $2.2 million, according to a statement released by the U.S. Marshals.
A special agent with the Department of Homeland Security alerted officials that Dill was on a Delta flight from Dubai United Arab Emirates headed to Atlanta on Sunday morning. His name was flagged and U.S. Marshals were waiting for him when the plane landed.
He is being held at the Fulton County Jail to await extradition back to Tampa, Fulton County Sheriff’s spokeswoman Tracy Flanagan told the AJC.
Dill’s roommate, Michael Booth, was arrested in Akron, Ohio, on the same charges in early May.
Booth also had recently fled the state of Florida prior to the warrants being issued, officials said.
