We love it when readers send us their questions, but we’re delighted when they submit possible fixes for the problem. Barry Goodno told us about a bad area for traffic congestion.
“Traffic backs up at State Street and 10th St. heading north on State Street because the two lanes are not marked correctly. Cars headed to 14th St. often must wait through several signal changes to cross 10th St.,” he wrote.
Goodno suggested the left lane should have a left turn only arrow, for vehicles headed toward Northside Drive on 10th Street. The right lane, he added, should have a combined north and right-turn arrow marking for these two options - either turning right onto 10th Street or headed toward 14th Street.
“Motorists frequently use the right lane to go toward 14th St, creating confusion, honking horns and near collisions with cars coming in the opposite direction,” he added.
We sent his issue to the city and will keep you updated.

We received another issue last week about the Emory University corridor.
“The lane lines on Clifton Road, between Haygood Drive and Houston Mill Road, going away from Emory Hospital, are getting very faint again. When it’s dark and raining, the lines are hardly visible, and that is an oft-used driving area and should be made safer,” a reader wrote.
We sent the issue to county officials, and let you know when we have an update.
