New item-Sandy Springs

Danny Vento has another issue for the city of Sandy Springs.

“Now that the light at the intersection of Abernathy and Barfield/Glenlake Parkway is fixed, I’d like to move a little further west,” he wrote.

Vento said the city needs a “Don’t Block the Box” demarcation where Cherry Tree Lane and the entrance to Alderwood on Abernathy.

“During the morning and evening rush hours, commuters on Abernathy constantly block these crossroads making it difficult and dangerous for other drivers to cross Abernathy,” he wrote.

He said the same type of demarcation is currently in place further west where Barnard Place and Redding Drive intersect Johnson Ferry Road.

We sent the information and got a quick response.

“We have a policy and process in place for neighborhoods to request the addition of ‘Don’t Block the Box’ which includes neighborhood support for the project. At this time, we have not received anything from the neighborhood indicating consensus,” said the city’s communications director Sharon Kraun.

William Beck wants something done about an ugly mess of wires.

“Attached is a common sight in our Virginia-Highland neighborhood. A variety of cable, phone, power, etc. wires and cables hanging from poles everywhere. Who is responsible for cleaning up after themselves? With Google and others touting the addition of ‘fiber’ in the area — installed by employees and contractors of Comcast, Verizon, AT&T — here’s what we’re left with,” he wrote.

We sent the item to the city to see if they could provide assistance.

New item-Chamblee

Susan McDaniel just wants a small area of a major road fixed.

“The small strip of Chamblee Dunwoody Road between Buford Highway and Shallowford Road is in terrible condition and has been so for years. It causes traffic jams and dangerous driving practices, as some motorists choose to use the left turn lane in the opposite direction to avoid the bumps and pot holes. Someone took pity on us drivers and used some leftover bituminous to fill in some of the worst potholes,” she wrote.

We sent the item to the city and will let you know the outcome.
