A 24-year-old Stone Mountain woman on life support after being submerged in Lake Lanier for more than 12 minutes while trying to rescue a young relative has died.

Ngoc Minh Vo died early Monday at Northeast Georgia Medical Center, according to officials with the state Department of Natural Resources.

The woman's family had been swimming near Van Pugh South Park in Hall County on Sunday when she went under before 4 p.m. while trying to rescue a child who had slipped off a float.

The six-year-old boy was resuscitated and taken to Children's Healthcare of Atlanta at Egleston.
