SWAT team to get $739,000 grant

Cobb County Police will receive a $739,243 grant from Homeland Security for 15 Chevy Tahoes to be used by SWAT team and bomb squad officers. Cobb’s Board of Commissioners has approved the Urban Area Security Initiative award that will add to the department’s vehicle fleet. The addition will also increase the number of take-home cars for officers. The grants are given to police departments in urban areas for equipment, training and exercise.
