Police in Gwinnett County didn't find their target after deploying a SWAT team to lock down a townhome community.

Heavily armed officers descended on a townhome in the 6000 block of Wintergreen Road on Monday afternoon.

A spokesman for the county police said officers were there to serve "high risk" search and arrest warrants on someone known to be there.

The spokesman, officer Brian Kelly, said the warrants stemmed from an attempted burglary earlier in the day.

But by around 6 p.m., the SWAT team was sent away. The target was not in the home, Kelly said. He said the arrest warrant remains active and that detectives would continuing looking for their suspect.
