Suwanee has been re-designated as a PlanFirst Community. PlanFirst is a Georgia Department of Community Affairs (DCA) program to recognize and reward communities that clearly demonstrate an established pattern of successfully implementing their Local Comprehensive Plan.
Designation as a PlanFirst Community provides the city with statewide recognition, bonus points on DCA programs such as the Redevelopment Fund or Employment Incentive Program or the Downtown Revolving Loan Fund. Participation also provides hands-on assistance from DCA staff to help implement community work program activities, and other incentives.
Under this agreement, Suwanee will maintain the designation for three years and both parties will have certain responsibilities to uphold during this time period.
