The Suwanee city council unanimously approved an amendment Feb. 23 to the alcohol beverage ordinance to permit the sale of distilled spirits at certain city events. Previously the city allowed the sale of beer and wine at authorized city events. City documents sited the upcoming “Guess Who’s Coming to Cocktails” as an example of an event that would allow the sale of distilled spirits.

The amendment also includes some administrative revisions including clear definitions of what constitutes a special event and the type of materials allowed to define designated secured structures for special events. The amendment also separately defines the various types of spirits, and other terms and phrases, used within the alcohol beverage ordinance.
