The Suwanee City Council voted recently to award contracts for pedestrian projects and general maintenance services. Peach State Construction Co. LLC of Covington teamed with Development Planning & Engineering Inc. in Buford and Georgia Bridge and Concrete LLC in Tucker teamed with Clark Patterson Lee in Suwanee will be the design-build contractors.

The city requested bids from 25 prospective contractors and a construction plan holder company. Two proposals were received. In the request for qualifications and proposals the city noted that contingent upon the submittals they were tentatively seeking more than one design-build firm to contract with.

The bid’s goal was to acquire two contractors to accomplish multiple projects including design-build of pedestrian facilities and similar types of projects along with general maintenance services for curb and gutter repair, sidewalk repair, stormwater pipe repair, headwall repair, catch basin repair, asphalt repair (pothole and small patching areas), and more.

City funding will depend on the type of project. For example, pedestrian construction is budgeted via SPLOST.
