Suwanee began the new 2020 fiscal year on July 1 with a $13.8 million balanced operating budget. This year’s budget represents a 2.2 percent increase over the $13.4 million adopted budget for the recently ended 2019 fiscal year.

Suwanee’s $13,766,780 FY2020 budget includes 106 full-time and 17 part-time positions, including one new position and five position upgrades. $20,000 will be allocated for a pedestrian and bicycle plan update, $9,600 for a pilot park trash project, and $17,000 for right-of-way permitting. The city will also budget $40,000 for a cyber security program and $181,000 for recommended capital funding. $30,000 will go towards buying new public works equipment, $79,000 will be used to purchase two replacement police vehicles, and $72,000 will help buy new police equipment.
