Police identified a suspect wanted in connection with a fatal shooting that left a 43-year-old Gwinnett County man dead, police say.

Winston Sylvester, 31, is wanted on aggravated assault and felony murder charges in the Feb. 22 shooting death of Vernie Burroughs, Cpl. Deon Washington, a spokesman for Gwinnett County police, said in an email.

Burroughs’ body was found in the parking lot in front of the building, where police believe he lived.

Gwinnett police Sgt. Brian Doan told Channel 2 Action News police didn’t know how many times Burroughs was shot, but they received 911 calls reporting that six shots had been fired.

Sylvester has ties to the Atlanta area and should be considered armed and dangerous, Washington wrote.
