A Roswell jewelry store owner is safe after four suspects tried to kidnap her at gunpoint from her business Wednesday evening.

Police caught one suspect during the ordeal, 28-year-old Juan Knight, who was charged with kidnapping, robbery, and aggravated assault. Roswell police announced Thursday the department is now searching for the other three suspects.

The 67-year-old woman exited the rear entrance of her store, the Capetown Diamond Corporation, around 10 p.m., when the masked individuals ambushed and forced her into the back of a black van at gunpoint, according to a news release from Roswell police.

A man inside of the jewelry store watched as the attack took place and immediately called police for help, said Roswell police spokeswoman Lisa Holland.

Police spotted the black van leaving the area as they arrived to the scene. The black van collided with a tree on Holcomb Bridge Road as police tried to stop the vehicle.

All four suspects then fled, and Knight was captured shortly after, police said. Officers canvassed the area for the remaining suspects with help from an Atlanta Police helicopter.

Police rescued the woman from the back of the van and transported her to a nearby hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.

So far, Knight has not provided investigators with any information on the other three suspects, Holland said.

The damaged black van used in the kidnapping was reported as stolen from Cobb County last week, according to police.

A jewelry store employee who answered the phone Thursday declined to comment on the incident.

The investigation is still ongoing.
