Support grows for fourth Henry County judge

Henry County officials hope a fourth Superior Court judgeship will be approved soon.
Henry County’s quest for a fourth Superior Court judgeship has gotten support at the state level, and officials are confident that legislative action in 2020 will make it a reality.
The state’s judicial council unanimously approved the Henry circuit’s request, Superior Court Judge Brian Amero told the Board of Commissioners at its Sept. 17 regular meeting. The council also ranked Henry second among the nine circuits which qualified numerically from a workload standpoint for an additional judge.
The final step is to pass a bill in the Georgia General Assembly approving the move. All 10 members of Henry County’s legislative delegation are in support, Amero said.
