Superintendent looking to hire Renfroe Middle School principal by July

City Schools Decatur has received about 40 applicants for the Renfroe Middle School principal’s job, a position Superintendent Phyllis Edwards hopes to fill by July 1. Derrick Thomas resigned in early May after six years at the helm, leaving to become principal at Eagles Landing Middle School in Henry County. Edwards said a committee of staffers, teachers and student leadership team members led by former Renfroe Principal (and current 4/5 Academy at Fifth Avenue Principal) Bruce Roaden will narrow the list to nine and arrange interviews with each. Edwards added that she would personally interview the three finalists and make the final choice.
