If you're in Athens on a Sunday and in need of the hair of the dog, you'll soon be able to scratch that itch.

Athens voters approved a referendum Tuesday that will allow package stores to sell alcohol on Sundays, starting Aug. 26.

The Athens Banner-Herald reports that the measure in the home of the University of Georgia passed by a huge margin.

Voters approved buying alcohol by the drink from restaurants, as well as package sales on Sundays.

Only one catch: You'll have to wait until 12:30 p.m. to make your purchase.

Closer to home, Cobb and Fulton counties also approved Sunday sales in unincorporated areas.

Voters in the two counties had already approved it, but had to decide the issue again after officials said Georgia law required more county residents to be able to vote — not just those who live in unincorporated areas.
