The Sugar Hill Veterans Memorial Plaza located across from City Hall at the intersection of W. Broad Street and Church Street is closing in on the final touches. Recent progress includes the completion of landscape beds and hardscape on Church Street, lights have been installed and pools filled to begin operation of the lighted fountain feature. The only thing remaining is for the granite supplier to meet scheduled deliveries.
The Sugar Hill Veterans Memorial Plaza includes monuments for the six service branches of the military, a water feature, and an eternal flame. The plaza dedication ceremony was attended by over 200 on Nov. 11, 2019, the 101st anniversary of the 1918 armistice, ending World War I.
