An engineering study has confirmed that Cochran Park in Stockbridge has major issues that will cost more than a half-million dollars to repair, the Henry County Board of Commissioners was informed at its Oct. 1 regular meeting.

The park was closed suddenly in July due to problems with sinkholes and the parking lot. The recent study indicates that the stormwater system is in poor condition and repairing it alone would cost $592,524.

County officials are looking at ways to improve the part of the park that is still considered safe, consideration such options as the addition of green space, walking/dog trails and possibly a pickle ball court.
