Several police cruisers outside Trickum Middle School on Monday, Oct. 22, 2018.

After stabbing his teacher in the chest, a Gwinnett County middle schooler held an eight-inch knife to a classmate's throat, a student witness told Channel 2 Action News.

A Trickum Middle School student in the classroom during the incident recorded the video on her iPhone moments after the stabbing occurred. Another teacher in the language arts classroom told her to hit record so she could show police, she told Channel 2.

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution is not naming the witness because she is a child.

After stabbing the female teacher, the 13-year-old boy grabbed a female classmate and held a knife to her throat, the witness told Channel 2. A school resource officer was able to separate the boy from the girl, who was not injured, according to Gwinnett County Public Schools.

The student who recorded the video told Channel 2 it took 10 minutes for that school resource officer to arrive; the district says it took two minutes.

The witness says the incident left her feeling unsafe at school.

“If I am out, I am just like, someone can get me in any moment,” she said. “I feel like if I see something bad happen, it is going to happen to me.”
