A Stone Mountain man was in critical condition after being shot at his home Friday morning, police said.

Initial reports indicate two men approached the home on Hairston Crossing about 11:30 a.m. One of the suspected fired a gun when the resident opened the door, said DeKalb police spokesman Mekka Parish.

The suspects then fled the scene, she said.

“Police believe attempted robbery was the motive,” Parish said.

The resident was taken to an area hospital in critical condition, she said.

The police investigation is continuing.
