The Stockbridge City Council voted Sept. 14 to rename a downtown street Martin Luther King Sr. Heritage Trail.

The new designation will cover portions of Berry Street and Railroad Street. King Sr. was born and grew up in Stockbridge, and he preached his first sermon at Floyd Chapel Baptist Church, which is still located in Stockbridge. A plaque honoring the King legacy will also be placed at city hall.
