Stockbridge will kick off the year-long celebration of the city’s birthday with a gathering Jan. 28 at City Hall.

The Henry County town will turn 100 on Aug. 6 and plans to hold various celebratory activities and initiatives throughout the year to mark the milestone.

The kick off of those activities will be held at 5 p.m. Jan. 28 at City Hall with live entertainment and light refreshments, the city said. Participants must RSVP for the event by emailing city spokeswoman Shana Thornton at sthornton@cityofstockbridge-ga.gov or calling (678) 833-3342.

"This is our big year, " Stockbridge Mayor Anthony Ford said in a statement. "The city of Stockbridge has reached a significant milestone. We are 100 years strong and there is no better time to be in Stockbridge than now. We have achieved so much as a city and we have more to accomplish."
