Stockbridge Municipal Court Judge Matthew McCord was recently appointed to the Georgia Ad Hoc Committee to Prevent Sexual Harassment in the Judicial Branch of Government as well as the Judicial Council’s Strategic Planning Committee, according to city officials.

Both appointments were made by Georgia Chief Justice Harold D. Melton, and McCord is among a group of appointees reportedly charged with “gathering research, examining and evaluating best practices, and encouraging all classes of Georgia courts and court councils to establish policies to prevent sexual harassment.”

McCord has had a private legal practice in McDonough for several years and was appointed to the Stockbridge judgeship in early 2014. He was the Republican candidate for district attorney in Henry County in 2016 but dropped out of the race before the general election.
