The Stockbridge City Council voted at its March 9 regular meeting to approve a $155,343.90 change order regarding additional excavation and other construction-related work for the city’s new public works facility.

Also approved was $10,000 in funding for the annual city-sponsored back-to-school initiative, with the money to come from the city’s contingency account. A motion was made to approve $5,000 but it died for lack of a second, after which a separate motion with the $10,000 amount passed unanimously.

The council also passed a resolution opposing House Bill 937 (formerly HB 302), which would restrict the ability of municipalities to regular construction standards.
