A man who was working on a steamroller when it was struck by a CSX train died of his injuries Thursday morning, Cobb County officials said.

The accident happened Wednesday morning at the intersection of New McEver Road and Hickory Grove Road in Acworth, Cobb police spokesman Sgt. Dana Pierce said.

Grady Walker, 58, of Atlanta, was working on a repaving project but got stuck on the tracks, Pierce said. Just as he was unbuckling his seat belt, Walker was struck by the train and stuck under his overturned steamroller.

He was taken to WellStar Kennestone Hospital, where he later died.
