The Georgia State Patrol is investigating a fatal accident that temporarily blocked all I-575 southbound lanes Tuesday morning, authorities said.

The Cherokee County Fire Department responded to a single-vehicle accident  just south of Exit 14 in Holly Springs at around 7:30 a.m., according to a news release.

Firefighters said a black Ford SUV went up an embankment, struck some trees and landed on its side, pinning the driver underneath.

Authorities said the driver appeared to be in her twenties, but did not release any identifying information.

The driver died at the scene, firefighters said.

The accident near Sixes Road in Cherokee County temproarily forced all southbound traffic off at exit 14, according to the Cherokee County Sheriff's Office.
