Three Georgia legislators who represent Cherokee County will hold a town hall event there this weekend to talk about the upcoming legislative session.

State Sen. Brandon Beach, R-Alpharetta and representatives Wes Cantrell, R-Woodstock and Scot Turner, R-Holly Springs will meet with voters 10 a.m. Saturday at the Hickory Flat Fire Station, 7675 Vaughn Road, Canton.

A number of thorny issues are expected to confront Georgia lawmakers during the 2016 session, including continued calls for religious liberty legislation, the possibility that medical cannabis could be grown in the state and a proposed Opportunity School District constitutional amendment that would allow the state to take over chronically low-performing schools.
