A Powder Springs Police officer made a special delivery early Friday at a Waffle House.

Officer Kathy Green took a medical assistance call about 1:40 a.m. at the restaurant at C.H. James Parkway and Florence Road. There she found Marisa Escamilla in a mini van in labor, according to police.

Escamilla, 22, could not make it to the hospital, and emergency medical personnel could not arrive in time.

When the baby began to crown from a contraction, Green helped with the delivery of the child, police said.

Escamilla, of Dallas, was holding her new son when medical personnel arrived. They were taken to Wellstar Cobb Hospital.
