The Smyrna City Council approved a $149,521 consulting contract with Croy Engineeting for a land use and transportation study of South Cobb Drive - mainly to be paid by the Georgia Department of Transportation.

Funding for the South Cobb Corridor Study, A 1.5-mile section from Windy Hill Road to Concord Road will be $120,000 from GDOT and $30,000 from the city.

Since South Cobb Drive is a state road, Councilwoman Susan Wilkinson said it is difficult to make any improvements without this study, expected to take a year to complete.

During a work session on July 14, Smyrna Community Development Director Ken Suddreth said he hopes the study will lead to improvements such as streetscape and pedestrian crossings.
