The Crowne Plaza Hotel in Peachtree City plans to generate 25 percent of its electrical needs by installing a solar power system. Apsilon Hotels Group has awarded a contract to Alternative Energy Southeast to build a 642-kilowatt hour rooftop system which, when completed in August, will be the largest of its kind in Peachtree City.

Apsilon said an energy audit “showed the enormous solar potential of the hotel’s location,” and the system is expected to offset more than 24,000 tons of carbon over its lifetime. Guests will be able to see live data on the solar output on an LED screen in the lobby.
