Gwinnett County Transit will add three mid-day Express pickups today to get commuters out of Atlanta ahead of the expected winter weather.

The buses will leave at 11 a.m., noon and 1 p.m. from Central Avenue/Mitchell Street in Atlanta and run their “normal downtown route,” officials said. The buses will then make stops at all three of Gwinnett’s Park and Ride lots: Indian Trail, Sugarloaf Mills and I-985/Ga. 20.

As of Friday morning, all regular afternoon Express buses were also scheduled to run as normal.

On Saturday, local Gwinnett County Transit service will have a later-than-usual start at 8 a.m. — “if the roads are clear for safe passage,” officials said.

Gwinnett County schools announced early Friday that they would dismiss early. Gwinnett County itself had made no weather-related announcements as of 9:30 a.m.
