Snellville has completed its purchase of a nearly 11-acre parcel of land that could be the linchpin for a new town center.

The city bought the property, known locally as “Wisteria Square,” for just under $700,000 from Synovus Bank. Negotiations between the city and the bank started last year at about $6.8 million.

City officials have floated the possibility of building an amphitheater, an interactive fountain or a mixed-use development on the property.
