Snellville police said Monday they have issued arrest warrants for one of three men suspected of a series of armed robberies targeting MetroPCS stores in the Atlanta area.

Charles Hamm, 24, is the first of the three suspects to be publicly identified by police. His last known address was in Lithonia, according to Snellville police Detective James McDonald.

On Sept. 15, police recovered the white 2001 Chevrolet Monte Carlo believed to have been used as the getaway vehicle in the robberies, AM 750 and 95.5 FM News/Talk WSB reported.

“We were able to identify the vehicle as belonging to one of (Hamm’s) relatives,” McDonald said. “We believe that he is now making threats to (acquaintances) who he thinks is supplying information to police, making threats that he’s going to kill them.”

Hamm was described as armed and dangerous. Anyone who knows his whereabouts or sees him should call local police, or they can call McDonald at 770-985-3555.

Additionally, Hamm’s relatives are suspected of helping the man avoid capture, McDonald said.

“If we do in fact determine family members are helping him, charges will be forthcoming,” the detective said.

The warrants charge Hamm with armed robbery, possession of firearm by a convicted felon, and having a firearm in commission of a felony.

He also is charged with two counts of false imprisonment – forcing two robbery victims into a bathroom and ordering them to stay there in the Sept. 14 robbery of a MetroPCS store on Henry Clower Boulevard in Snellville.

“We’re looking at at least six (robberies) in and round the Gwinnett, DeKalb and possibly Fulton counties,” McDonald said.

The heists began in mid-August, and the most recent one was Sept. 14.

McDonald said that it appears the three men switch roles in each stick-up: “One would have the gun, one would distract the clerk, and one would be the getaway driver.” They also may be wearing false beards, he said.
