Following a public meeting, the Snellville Planning Commission chose to postpone a decision Thursday on a new Kroger Marketplace. The proposed 123,000-square-foot store on 21 acres at 1000 Athens Highway/U.S. 78 and Rosebud Road will replace a smaller Kroger in the area. The new store plans to include a Starbucks, toy section, home décor, a sushi bar, fuel center and a drive-thru pharmacy.

Residents expressed concern the new store might negatively impact the environment as well as already heavy traffic in the area. Representatives from Kroger shared that digital traffic studies do not indicate a negative impact, and engineers assured full compliance with all Georgia stormwater management regulations. To allow for further information, the commission tabled a decision until a Dec. 1 meeting.
