Snellville has named Jason Thompson director of Planning and Development and Jan Burke controller.

Thompson, who joined the city in June 2006 after graduating from the Graduate Planning Program at the University of West Georgia, was formerly city planner/GIS manager as well as part-time Code Enforcement officer.

Thompson said he wants to “see the city continue to grow and foster the development of the Town Center and to continue to offer a positive experience for the citizens of Snellville.”

Jan Burke is returning as the city’s controller. She served in the position for 13 years and is back after a brief absence.

Burke said she wants “to maintain the financial reporting standards that have been achieved by the city.”

“When I started with the city, we had one bank account and only the general fund,” she said. “Snellville has grown to 19 bank accounts and 14 funds. I am very happy to be back!”
