Following receipt of construction bids being accepted through Sept. 4, Snellville anticipates awarding the Towne Green project and executing contracts by the end of September. Between September and November, the city anticipates relocating existing trees and construction of a labyrinth in the area surrounding the Veterans Memorial.

Assuming the plan remains on schedule, construction should begin on the Towne Green in December with a targeted grand opening set for the city’s annual Beach Blast in May.

The project consists of improvements to the Towne Green and realignment of curb, gutter and sidewalk. Other improvements include construction of a low sitting wall and entrance wall, landscaping, installation of several brick paver areas, a traffic table and signage and major electrical improvements.

The project was delayed in February after bids for the project came in over budget.

A pre-bid conference is scheduled for 2 p.m. Aug. 18 at City Hall, 2342 Oak Road, in Conference Room 145. Information: Eric Van Otteren at 770-985-3502 or evanotteren@snellville.org.
