Following a second public hearing, the Snellville City Council approved a zoning ordinance amendment to allow business and driving schools to operate in an Office Professional District on a limited basis.

Over the past several years, Snellville has had business owners wanting to establish business related training and business schools in several different locations in the city where the properties are zoned office professional district. Currently, the city’s zoning ordinance allows for this type of use in the general business and highway service business districts only.

Recently, A-1 Driving School purchased property at 2376 Lenora Church Road to relocate their driving school from their current location at 2239 Scenic Highway. The property has been vacant since December 2010 and currently zoned office professional.

The new zoning ordinance text amendment will allow such uses on a limited basis, with a provision the facility does not exceed 5,000 square feet of gross building or tenant space area.
