A Smyrna woman is in stable condition after she was stabbed and burned while bound and gagged in her apartment Monday, police said.

Police are blaming the attack on her former boyfriend, Lawrence Scott, 24, and say he was caught after a foot chase during which he removed some of his clothes.

Scott is charged with aggravated assault, first-degree arson, armed robbery and simple battery. He is being held at the Cobb County Jail.

Police were called to the victim's apartment around 3 p.m. They found a woman who had been stabbed several times, and they caught a suspect who "did partially disrobe" as he ran, Smyrna Police spokesman Officer Michael Smith said.

He added that police are not investigating the attack as a rape.
