The Aline Wolfe Adult Recreation Center in Smyrna is closed “indefinitely” due to damage caused by a vehicle crashing into the back of the building Monday morning.

A driver lost control of a vehicle, but no injuries were reported, though the facility was open at the time, according to a notice posted on the city’s website at SmyrnaCity.com.

Designed for senior citizens, the center at 884 Church St. will remain closed to the public until further notice, the notice said.

During Monday’s City Council meeting, council members were told that the lobby will remain open and the center will be staffed - though the AARP tax service and fitness classes will be canceled for “hopefully a short number of weeks.”

Next door to the center, the therapy pool will remain closed with a planned opening on Wednesday.
