Credit card costs will be passed along to Smyrna residents because of an updated registration platform for use by the city’s Parks and Recreation Department.

The Smyrna City Council voted 6-1 - with Councilwoman Susan Wilkinson opposed - on Sept. 16 to pay $25,900 for a one-time implementation and training cost by CivicRec.

Also, there will be an annual cost of $26,746 to buy the CivicRec digital registration platform.

CivicRec will pass along the credit card costs and save the city about $20,000 annually going forward, according to a city statement.

The current annual cost for Active is $45,000 and increasing annually.

Civic Rec has proposed a fixed cost of $26,746 annually.
