Smyrna Parks and Recreation will open the North Cooper Lake Mountain Bike Park in mid-October.

The ribbon-cutting ceremony will take place at 10 a.m. Oct. 19 at 4201 Cooper Lake Road, Smyrna.

Following the ribbon cutting, the Jonquil City Kiwanis will host a Kids Bike Rodeo from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

A limited supply of bike helmets, t-shirts, hats and stickers will be given away.

Bring your bikes to try out this multi-use trail system.

There also is a bicycle playground that has been designed specifically for young and beginner riders.

This system has a variety of beginner and intermediate-level riding opportunities.

For those who do not have a bike, this new park has purpose-built trails for hikers and dog walkers.
