The Smyrna City Council voted 7-0 Monday to spend $20 million for the Windy Hill Boulevard project from South Cobb Drive to Atlanta Road for a total projected cost of $42 million.

Cobb County will pay $18 million for the project, including engineering, utility relocation, right-of-way acquisition and construction.

Funding will come from the 2016 SPLOST, or special purpose local option sales tax.

From the 2011 SPLOST, preliminary engineering costs have been $2 million from the county and $2 million from the city.
