The Smyrna City Council split Tuesday on its denial of a Venture Homes request.

The rezoning of 5.6 acres at 3744 Plumcrest Road for 15 single-family houses was at issue.

Most of the residents expressed concerns about the density, appearance, removal of trees, increasing traffic and overcrowding schools.

In favor of the houses were Melleny Pritchett, Teri Anulewicz and Ron Fennel. Opposed were Andrea Blustein, Susan Wilkinson, Charles Welch and Wade Lnenicka.

Also, the council did approve 7-0 the annexation of four small parcels, totaling nearly an acre, at 1880, 1890 and 1900 Watkins Road in Mableton and 2808 Madison St.
