An impoundment fee of $100 will be charged by Smyrna for rented bikes or scooters that are left in the right-of-way.

Also, a $5 fee will be charged each day for storage.

The Smyrna City Council approved these changes on Oct. 21.

Within 48 hours of impoundment, the Smyrna Police Department’s Property and Evidence Unit - or its designee - will attempt to notify any identifiable owner of the impounded mobility device.

The $100 will cover the cost of the officer collecting, transporting and processing the scooter into evidence.

Then the $5 daily storage fee will pay for the space required.
