Two suspects were in custody early Wednesday and eight more were being sought after a smash-and-grab burglary at a downtown liquor store.

Channel 2 Action News reported that three vehicles pulled up outside the Peachtree Liquor Store at Peachtree and Baker streets around 3 a.m.

The drivers of those three vehicles – a white Honda, a dark-colored Jeep Cherokee and a red Dodge pickup truck – stayed with the vehicles while seven other suspects smashed the glass door of the store and ran inside.

“The items that were taken were boxed liquor items, just something they could grab real quick and get back out of the store with,” Atlanta police Capt. Van Hobbs told Channel 2.

An officer arrived just as the suspects jumped into the vehicles and drove away in three different directions.

The officer chased one car with four people inside; two of those people were arrested at Windsor and Richardson streets, while the other two ran away.

The suspects in the other two vehicles got away.
