Small turnout for last forum on school attendance lines

About 70 people attended the last public forum over the largest redistricting in the history of the Cobb County Schools.

The new attendance lines in South Cobb will take effect over the next two years if the school board approves them in February. The changes would touch over 15,000 students at about 20 schools.

Parents at Wednesday's meeting at South Cobb High School were concerned that their neighborhood, Cheney Woods, had been drawn out of the attendance zone for the new Smyrna Area Elementary School. The school is being built at a cost of $19.6 million.
