Small fire in Delta hangar at Atlanta airport

Oct 11, 2011

A Delta Air Lines hangar at Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport was evacuated Tuesday afternoon after a small fire started in an engine shop, a company spokesman said.

The incident happened in Delta's Technical Operation Center 1 in the 1700 block of Aviation Boulevard. The fire, which started in a ventilation duct, was contained and extinguished by airport fire crews, spokesman Anthony Black said.

No injuries were reported, and employees later returned to the building.

Black also said no flights were delayed, and the airline's operations were not affected by the fire.

The cause of the fire will be investigated.
