The sprinkler system helped prevent a fire from spreading Wednesday night at an east Cobb County nursing home.

A ventilation fan in a bathroom caught fire and fell to the floor, igniting a floor mat and causing flames to spread to the shower curtain at the Atria Senior Living Center, Lt. Dan Dupree with the Cobb fire department told the AJC. No one was injured.

The center is located at 9 Sherwood Lane, near the intersection of Paper Mill and Johnson Ferry roads, Dupree said.

The building's sprinkler system contained the fire to one bathroom, which sustained extensive damage, Dupree said. No one was in the room at the time, he said.
